First Graduation Ceremony of FEFU Students Assisted by Transneft Far East

Date of publication: 25 July 2019

The first graduation ceremony has been held for students of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) who studied under Transneft Far East’s targeted programme.

Since 2015, the FEFU School of Engineering has been training students under an agreement with the oil transportation company. In 2019, Konstantin Afanasyev, a graduate of the Oil and Gas Engineering Department, and Anastasiya Lukyanchuk, a graduate of the Technological and Production Processes Automation Department, have completed their training. Anastasiya’s thesis was dedicated to the development and research of an underwater vehicle for rescue operations; she graduated with honors and entered the Top 100 FEFU School of Engineering graduates. In August, the young specialists will start working at operating facilities of Transneft Far East.

Today, nine more students receive training under Transneft Far East’s targeted programmes (implying that the Company pays the students’ tuition and after graduation students work for the Company for several years). This way of training personnel ensures that the needs of the oil transportation industry are carefully considered. The University and the Company signed a cooperation agreement in 2012. Under the agreement, the Company has allocated more than RUB 25 million to the FEFU for the purchase of test benches, mockup models and equipment. In 2016, the Oil & Gas Engineering and Petrochemistry Department ceremoniously opened a Transneft-sponsored classroom. More than 120 students of the School of Engineering completed their educational, field and pre-graduation internships at the Company's operating facilities.

FEFU students take part in scientific and technical conferences of Transneft and Transneft Far East. Transneft Far East sections’ heads regularly give lectures to FEFU students about the equipment and technologies used in the Company. Today, the Company employs 69 young professionals who have graduated from the Far Eastern Federal University, and many of them occupy senior positions.
