Specialists of Transneft Far East which transports oil through the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil trunk pipeline (ESPO-2) phase II, have become prize-winners of the first International Competition of Scientific, Technical, and Innovative Developments for the Development of the Fuel, Energy and Extractive Industries award.
The competition was held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation as part of the work on innovative development of the fuel, energy and extractive industries and human resource development.
Presented at the contest were Improving the Efficiency of Automatic Mainline Pumping Station (MPS) Pressure Control Systems Using Line Pressure Sensors Information, the project of Ilya Valchenko, Head of the Programming Sector of the SW&HW Support Section for Microprocessor Automation and Telemechanics of Transneft Far East, and Nikolay Konstantinov, an electronics engineer of the Documentation Sector.
The Company's specialists developed an algorithm which will prevent the pressure at the output of the MPS from exceeding the limit. In case of a pressure surge wave, a wave of low pressure of equal amplitude is directed towards it to equalise the pressure. It allows to prevent PS shutdowns.
The project of Ilya Valchenko and Nikolay Konstantinov was developed as a contest work for the final round of the II (XIV) International Transneft Youth Science and Technology Conference and was sent to the international contest by the Company’s decision. On 25 June 2019 in St. Petersburg, the authors of the project will receive awards at a ceremony held as part of the VII Russian International Energy Forum
